14 and 19 year old dating
The prev poster is right in saying dont come down hard on her, chances are it will be a fleeting thing and if you act calm you'll be able to monitor it easier than if you tell her you don't want him in your house etc. I met my hubby when I was 15 and he was 20 (I'm now 28) if my parents had tried to stop me I would definitely have rebelled.I know that all parents have different opinions and thoughts on this but I do think you sometimes need to give a 15 year old the chance to prove that they can be responsible. This did not make her go out and jump the first boy she dated. It's difficult as each family has differing opinions on this matter.Be open or be closed, either way she'll do it 'cause she wants to or 'cause he (whether it's this boy or not) wants her to.As PPs have said, trying to stop her will probably only push her further to him and possibly to behaviours that might not arise otherwise.I do understand it must be concerning for you both though so I wish you luck.
Always a sobering thing for the guy to meet the parents, especially the dad! I agree about girls going for older boys for the maturity factor, I was the same at her age.I will say though that going in guns blazing won't achieve anything.I started seeing my partner just after my 16th birthday, he was 21 at the time and the age gap was never an issue to us.Nothing on this website shall be construed as legal advice nor does the information provided constitute the formation of a lawyer/client relationship.
